Starry Starry night...

Last night myself and my Office friend went upto a remote place on Karjat road called Vangani. Its a station on central line next to Badlapur. KhagolMandal arranges SkyObservation night for amateur astronomers, kids, parents..for everyone. I have been going there since many many years whenever I feel the need to be away from chaos of Mumbai.

And its the 25th anniversary of KhagolMandal group that they started this initiatives.

This is non-profit organization started by hobbyist like us. They are all working professionals from various fields including IT, Journalists, School Teachers everyone. In fact I came to know that few of them are doing PhD's from NCRA (Nation Centre for Radio Astrophysics), Germany etc.

The last night reminds me of visiting the house of one of my Software Architect in Canada. He has the most wonderful, fully computerized small observatory built behind in the back of his house with 14'' reflector telescope. I was like a kid in wonderland when he took us there last year.

I am hoping to buy small telescope and small car ! to follow the star trails and objects one day. Until then I will keep visiting Vangani!

Where is Phyan

This is my first blog and I spent too much time in past thinking about blogging myself but never written one so today is the day when I finally decided to start writing about my so called experiances and my daily thoughts.

Let me try explaining the meaning of Satsang

Satsang - Sat (Sanskrit word means Satya - True/Truth) + Sang (Company) so as wikipedia saysvery succinctly "Company of Highest Truth" or "Company of Guru"! but the meaning that I was aware of is "Spiritual Company". Although Im not very spiritual person.

Today @Mumbai we had early warning about cyclone "Phyan" and so offices, schools were asked to shutdown after lunch. Still it took me 5 p.m. to leave office but I saw the joy of on everyones face of getting home early. Was it really a joy for them to reach home early on weekday or was it joy that they dont want to be in the Office..Why the cyclone never hit the city?? I will never know.

I think I'm now not moved of these warnings they issue. Let that be about Natural Calamities or Terrorist threats.

Since lived in Mumbai for 30 years I know the truth that all these things happen in split second and you dont get a chance to react. I remember the July 26th when rain in Mumbai was far more than rain in world highest precipitation point Cherapunji, Assam or the blasts in Mumbai local trains, or terrorits attacks in Mumbai for 3 days killing so many peoples...and so on..

I think for all most of the I was in NCR Office watching it over TV/Internet.

Trust me - If you are in Mumbai - things never comes with warning but also trust me that you will see the people helping each other in this city more than any other city in India.
